The Departed (3 of 5): For such an all-star cast and cool story idea, this sure was a disappointing movie. If you ask me, this was one of the most overrated movies of last year. The only reason Martin Scorsese won an Oscar for it was because he was so overdue. This is far from his best work though. The plot is muddled, the editing is mediocre, the characters are undeveloped and the ending is terrible!

Movie Review - The Departed
The Departed (3 of 5): For such an all-star cast and cool story idea, this sure was a disappointing movie. If you ask me, this was one of the most overrated movies of last year. The only reason Martin Scorsese won an Oscar for it was because he was so overdue. This is far from his best work though. The plot is muddled, the editing is mediocre, the characters are undeveloped and the ending is terrible!

You guys are NUTS! the Departed was the Best Film of last year!! The cast was great and the story took you somewhere...not like most of crap that has come out lately. Some of Jack's quotables are outstanding!! Sorry you got this review wrong.
I'm afraid I am with the Movie Guy #1 on this one. I actually viewed this one with him. I'd probably give it a 3/5 but this was no best picture of the year. The comment about the editing is spot on. I felt like Scorsese filmed a lot more movie, but had to cut it down so it would be reasonably long. I just never quite identified with anybody. Motives were never super clear. If you want a good Scorsese film check out the Aviator. Possibly his best movie in my humble opinion.
AI was not thrilled with Aviator, but it was better than The Departed. When I think of good Scorsese flicks I think of Goodfellas and Taxi Driver. Casino has grown on me for some reason too, but it is not on par with his best work.
A great great movie with perfect cast and music. Even the direction was also amazing. Caprio is looking so good in the movie and has performed so well. This movie is really a solid one.
