Movie Review - Cars

Cars (4 of 5): Cars is another great movie from the folks at Pixar Animation Studios. The film is about a brash, impatient, egotistical sports car named Lightening Lightning McQueen that is fast becoming the best race car in the circuit. Then, one night McQueen ends up getting lost in the desert and accidentally tears up the street in a sleepy old town on Route 66. When McQueen is forced to stay in the town and fix the road, he slows down enough to realize that there is more to life than just his own conceited desires.

Cars presents a great story and is fun movie to watch. The animation is of course brilliantly executed by Pixar - both the colors and textures pop off the screen. As in their past movies, there are multiple layers to the story that serve to keep both kids and adults entertained with important life lessons and messages. The voice work is also very well done with no one voice overshadowing the on screen magic - even Larry the Cable Guy.

Cars is not Pixar's best movie, but it certainly ranks among the best of the studio's offerings. If you have not seen it yet, I encourage you to take the time to rent this film and check it out.

I'm no spelling nazi, but something about lightening looked funny to me. So I called up trusty dictionary.com and saw the definition... the descent of the uterus into the pelvic cavity, occurring toward the end of pregnancy, changing the contour of the abdomen and facilitating breathing be lessening pressure under the diaphragm. Teehee. You referred to deformed uteri or something. :) I just learned something and now so have you!

Robert - always so helpful...

I meant to refer to lightening in MG#2s review of Knocked Up, not my review of Cars.

Thanks!

Loved the movie. I like all of Pixar's movie (Incredibles had some of the best adult humor). Cars is top 3 Pixar movies for me.

Is it me or do I know somewhere around 5 Maters in the real world.

Loved the combine/tractor scene. Tractors as cows that fart. Classic.

5 out of 5 in my world.

The best line in Incredibles was when the dad was pissed about going to the kids 3rd (?) grade graduation. He says "why must we invent new ways to celebrate mediocrity". Something like that.

How true, how true.

I stayed clear of this movie, other than the 30 minutes I watched with a couple of brainwashed little girls who would rather watch Cars, that the other great classic animated movies that their parents currently have in their collection. Classics such as Robin Hood, The Hobbit, and my personal favorite...The Sword in the Stone.
Plus, it's about racing and features the voice-over "talent" of Larry the Cable Guy. GIT-ER-EAT ME!

Ouch.

Not wanting to assume who you are talking about (we have all of the mentioned movies), I have not brainwashed them YET.

The Wall, Monty Python, & Gone With the Wind are still a couple years away.

Dude, NASCAR is awesome. Drinking, eating and a little wife-beating. What is more white trash American than that? Are you a communist?

You know which two I am referring too. Brainwash is a general term I use for all kids who stare, fixated at any animated movie they have already seen 49 times. I do it with National Lampoon movies and Fletch...and porn

To me this movie was a complete surprise as I thought it will be a childish movie but the variety of humors that this movie is having suits all generations. Watching this movie with my kid was a great fun. This movie is all worth my time and money.
